The Losers - " Storm The Beach" Review
Let's just get this out of the way immediately, "Storm The Beach" should be on everyone's year end best of list.
The San Francisco quartet launched this blistering 5 song ep (via Willowhouse records) in late January 2024.
The whole thing is raw and in your face. It has serious vibes of the early days of the genre. With a snarl of feedback and vocalist Ethan screaming to kick off "Life on the fringe" I get instantly put in the mindframe of wanting to listen to early 7 seconds, or some raw Minor Threat.
"Pay for sex" could without a doubt be a B side on Black Flags "Nervous Breakdown" 7". The rhythm section on this song is as tight as it gets. An absolutely perfect hardcore/punk song.
"Storm The beach" may be my favorite song on this release. An intro that would make any Crime fan happy that turns into an ideal hardcore punk song with every element you can possibly want. The leads on the guitar remind me of a hyped up East Bay Ray with the absolute perfect amount of reverb to give it that "old school" sound.
"Storm The Beach" is as perfect as a release can be. It's definitely worth the $5 charge on Bandcamp. Check out The Losers. You won't be disappointed.
